Femicide: History and a Global perspective.

If you have been following social media, then you have probably noticed or have even been nominated to post a selfie of your self in black and white,(women only) Followed by #challengeaccepted.

Like the Black Box’s posted for BLM, This image does not say much and it intends to show solidarity.

The History behind the original black and white selfie:

Apparently it startedarted in 2016 as a breast cancer awareness movement. It has since been used to support various causes and it symbolizes solidarity for cause. This most recent trend was initiated by Turkish women as a symbol for Femicide awareness.

Femicide is a Global concern.

Femicide is a form of Gender Violence. As described by humanium.org :

“In any situation, violence is gendered because it is directed against a woman or girl because of their gender (Bunch, 1990; Shalhboub-Kervorkian & Daher-Nasif, 2013). Gender violence is perpetrated against female in various ways, affecting females of all ages, and encompasses but is not limited to emotional abuse, spiritual abuse and acts of sexual, domestic, political violence, (Roure, 2011; Bunch, 1990). On a global scale, women and girls are systematically targeted through such violence and their human rights are routinely violated because of a pronounced lack of legal protections in state legal systems (Jefferson, 2004).”(https://www.humanium.org/en/femicide-from-a-global-perspective/)

Although this recent movement used the original 2016 black and white photo challange to bring attention to this Issue among Women in Turkey it should be noted that women from various ethnic backgrounds can all be subject to such violance.

In Confusion, what women in Turkey have turned this into is great, but they did not start this trend or its more recent resurgence in the US, which spread here from Brazil.”https://www.glamour.com/story/challenge-accepted-on-instagram-why-black-and-white-selfies-are-all-over-your-feed/amp @Taylorlorenz

Phi Quyền Chính - Anarchism: The Tao Of Anarchy

The Tao of Anarchy: There is no God. There is no State. They are all superstitions that are established by the power-hunger psychopaths to divide, rule, and enslave us. It's only you and me, we are all true and real existence though in one short life. That is, We all are capable to freely interact with one another without coercion from anyone. We all are capable to take self-responsibility to find ways to live with one another in liberty, equality, harmony, and happiness before leaving this world forever. We all were born free and equal among all beings on this planet. We are not imprisoned in and by a place with a political name just because we were born there by bio-accident and social-chance. We are not chained to a set of indoctrinated beliefs that have been imposed upon us by so-called traditions. This Planet is home to all of us. No one owns it. We share the benefits from and responsibility to this Earth. We pledge no oath, no allegiance to no one; submit to no authority. We are all free and equal. The only obligation we all must undertake constantly with consistency is to respect the same freedoms and rights of others.
